The present study aims to determine if there is a relationship between the type of smile that can be: High, Medium or Low with a certain form of upper front teeth: Triangle, Caudrangular or Ovoidal, also determine if these types of smile have relationship with the parallelism of the incisal edge top with the bottom lip, in students aged 17 to 25 of the Faculty of Dentistry in UDLA. For this 260 individuals were taken as subjects of study 86 male and 174 female, was shooting (with Nikon 18.55 VR camera) to each individual then a Photoshop Cs6 program draw the smile line that passes through the incisors and canines incisal edges to see the parallel with the line that goes over the upper edge of the lower lip also with photography, determine the type of smile of each individual. It is determined so that there is not a specific type of smile that prevail in the present study group, also the kind of smile with teeth form is not related by gender or by age. On the type of parallelism of the incisal edge higher with age there is no relationship as that a gender was determined that the concave type is most prevalent in men that in women. It was determined that the parallelism of the incisal edge with the type of smile does relationship thus presenting: A high smile: parallel convex type A half smile: parallelism straight type A low smile: parallelism concave type And the parallelism of the bottom lip with the kind of smile also thus determining: A high smile: parallelism concave type A half smile: parallel convex type A low smile: parallelism straight type But not showed relationship between the presence of parallelism of the incisal topline with labial edge bottom depending on the type of smile.en
