| Descripción : | The present study was conducted in order to determine the prevalence of hydatidosis in swine’s livers who had confiscated in the trail of Quito Metropolitan Public Company, during the period of November 2014 to February 2015. The anatomopathological diagnosis method was applying in 12.441 adults swine, obtaining an actual prevalence of the 1.15% (n = 103/12.441) of positive animals for the disease. The animals from the study belonged to homemade productions in the provinces of Pichincha, Santo Domingo of the Tsáchilas and Cotopaxi. The parasitic infestation in swine is evidenced by cytology tests and identifying the presence of the scolex. The direct economic losses caused by the seizure of 103 pig’s livers infected with hydatid cysts had a total of 379.7kg this represent an amount of 753.20 USD in the slaughterhouse and in the market the amount rose a total of 1063.16 USD. In conclusion the disease is a problem of interest for swine’s homemade production sectors in the provinces previously reported and have a significant character in public health. |
