Equine Infectious Anemia is a viral disease, transmissible, chronic and deadly which only affects horses. The agent is primarily transmitted by the bite of bloodsucking insects; it could also be transmitted by other ways like venereal, transplacental and inadequate management of biosafety. Worldwide, Inmunidifution Agar gel test AGID is considerated the gold standard test for the identification of antibodies for Equine Infectious Anemia. The identification of a positive equine must be notified to the competent authority which leads to the sacrifice of the animal. Besides, there is no official record of the number of horses in Pichincha province, neither of the equines which have been tested. In the year of 2010, 28218 blood samples were taken at the province, which most of them are from horses belonging to herds of military entities, riding clubs and or riding associations. Through field research, this thesis presents the goal of identifying antibodies for Equine Infectious Anemia in herds from Pichincha province. The methodology research is in public health, in the area of Virology and Immunology, using an experimental method based on qualitative and quantitative tools, with a descriptive statistic analysis in SPSS system. 206 blood samples were taken. After processing the samples, the results showed that 100 percent of the specimens samples included in this study were negative to Coggins Test for Equine Infectious Anemia. The sampled herds did not exceed 25 horses living in the haras, and they are used only for agriculture, schools and ridings belonging to civilian owners.en
