| dc.description | The study addresses the lack of knowledge about the Human Papillomavirus HPV among students at the El Cóndor University Technological Institute, aiming to improve their understanding, prevention of HPV, and its complications. A sample of 27 students was selected through stratified random sampling, representing various careers and educational levels. The students were divided into an experimental group of 14 students who received an educational intervention and a control group of 13 students. Pre and post educational surveys and educational sessions on HPV showed that the majority of students were between 18 and 25 years old 74.1 percent, predominantly female 55.6 percent, and from the gastronomy career 74.1 percent. Fourth semester students were the most represented 29.6 percent. 92.6 percent correctly identified HPV as a sexually transmitted infection, and 96.3 percent recognized the importance of using condoms. However, knowledge about the consequences of HPV, such as cervical cancer, was lower, especially among men and students in lower educational levels. Only 33.3 percent mentioned having received the HPV vaccine. The proposed solution includes education about HPV and its risks, motivation through real life testimonials, individual empowerment with training in communication and negotiation skills, and education about the accessibility of early detection tests for HPV. The implementation aims to reduce the incidence of HPV and improve knowledge and adoption of preventive measures among the institute's students. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | El estudio aborda el desconocimiento sobre el Virus del Papiloma Humano VPH entre estudiantes del Instituto Tecnológico Universitario El Cóndor se buscó mejorar su conocimiento, prevención del VPH y sus complicaciones. Se seleccionó una muestra de 27 estudiantes mediante muestreo estratificado aleatorio, representando diversas carreras y niveles educativos, divididos en un grupo experimental de 14 estudiantes que recibieron una intervención educativa y un grupo control de 13 estudiantes. Las encuestas pre y post educativas y las sesiones educativas sobre el VPH mostraron que la mayoría de los estudiantes tenía entre 18 y 25 años 74,1 por ciento, predominando el sexo femenino 55,6 por ciento y la carrera de gastronomía 74,1 por ciento. Los estudiantes de cuarto semestre fueron los más representados 29,6 por ciento. El 92,6 por ciento identificó correctamente el VPH como una infección de transmisión sexual y el 96,3 por ciento reconoció la importancia del uso de preservativos. Sin embargo, el conocimiento sobre las consecuencias del VPH, como el cáncer de cuello uterino, era menor, especialmente entre los hombres y en niveles educativos más bajos. Solo el 33,3 por ciento mencionó haber recibido la vacuna contra el VPH. La propuesta de solución se basa en la educación sobre el VPH y sus riesgos, motivación a través de testimonios reales, fortalecimiento individual con capacitación en habilidades de comunicación y negociación, educando sobre la facilidad al acceso de exámenes de detección temprana del VPH. La implementación busca reducir la incidencia del VPH y mejorar el conocimiento y la adopción de medidas preventivas entre los estudiantes del instituto. | es_ES |
