OBJECTIVE: To review the evidence on types of training with jumping exercises that improve the strength and stability of the lower limb in athletes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The search strategy was developed using the PRISMA guide (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews) using databases such as: Pubmed, Science Direct, PEDro, Scielo, ResearchGate and Dialnet. Articles were included based on vertical jump and plyometric exercises that evaluated the effectiveness in strength training and lower limb stability in athletes. The inclusion criteria for this review were studied from a qualitative point of view by the different authors in addition to the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. RESULTS: A total of two thousand and eighty articles found in the six mentioned databases were obtained. At the end of the review, twelve studies were selected. Of the total analyzed articles of muscle strength, eight articles obtained a significant improvement and three articles obtained an acceptable change, in stability it was determined that within the twelve articles only three evaluated this variable, where two articles obtained a significant improvement and one article I mention an acceptable change. CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that a plyometric training obtains positive results in the increase of the muscular strength of the lower extremities even if the training cycles are short, when evaluating the stability, favorable results were obtained, with little scientific evidence for the analysis of this variable . Future studies should carry out research that includes a physiotherapeutic approach that is objective and reproducible, since it is stated that muscle strength and stability can generate strategies for the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries.en
