Tires are a special waste that is scarcely managed in Ecuador, due to the lack of rigorous policies that focus mainly on guaranteeing good management of all types of waste, especially those that are difficult to break down, such as tires. According to the National Program for the Integral Management of Solid Waste (2018), 90 por ciento of motorcycle tires that are discarded annually are not recovered, so it is evident that there is no adequate integral management in charge of treating this type of waste. This work describes the situation from 2014 to the present, it is evident that the problem is increasing and the actions taken to control this type of waste are not adequate to mitigate the problem; for this analysis, information provided by PNGIDS (by its initials in Spanish) was compiled, which is the government program in charge of solid waste management, SENAE, which is in charge of registering imports, and INEC, the institution that provides statistical data on national production and motorized vehicles, surveys were also conducted to find out the current post-consumption situation. There were three identified and very significant actors as they provided current and valid information on the management of motorcycle tires, these actors were: an association of motorcyclists, tire change workshops and tire sales distributors, in order to propose a tire recovery methodology to be able to reinsert them into the production chain, applying inverse logistics. The main conclusion of this work is that the inverse logistics model by applying the proposed actions can optimize the reintegration of the NFU (by its initials in Spanish) into the productive chain for the fabrication of products from the components of a recovered tire.en
