Descripción : Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia in older adults, patients who suffer from it suffer an early deterioration in their memory and a progressive decrease in their functionality. The patient's functional problems cause him to become dependent, being a family member or friend who plays the role of primary caregiver. The demanding job that represents being a caregiver of a patient with Alzheimer's disease, usually causes the caregiver to develop depressive symptoms and in most cases present an impairment in their quality of life. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the relationship between depression and quality of life in primary caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's. Therefore, this research is quantitative, cross-sectional and in a correlational scope, in order to obtain numerical data in a single moment about the level of depression and the level of quality of life, data that will allow to know the relationship between these variables. For this, two measuring scales for the depression Beck and Hamilton and two for the quality of life: SF-36 and EQ-5D will be applied to 358 primary caregivers selected through a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. The results of this study could show that there is no relationship between the variables or the opposite, if there is a relationship, it would give way to the creation of intervention programs that would benefit this population. So, this project aims to favor the knowledge of the subject, in order to provide a platform from which therapeutic approaches based on evidence can be deployed.
