Resumen : | OBJETIVO: Determinar si existe una asociación entre el sobreuso de la articulación temporomandibular y el dolor musculoesquelético cervical en docentes de escuelas primarias del Quinche... |
Descripción : | OBJECTIVE: To determine if there is an association between overuse of the temporomandibular joint and cervical musculoskeletal pain in primary school teachers in Quinche. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 40 teachers from primary schools in the parish of El Quinche, between the ages of 20 and 40. The measurement variables were: a questionnaire with some activities carried out by the teacher in his working day and at the end; the presence of muscle aches at certain trigger points of the cervical region measured with the visual analog scale EVA and a pressure algometer. RESULTS: A significant difference was found with the Chi square program in neck pain measured in VAS, (pr 0.024), while the other variables obtained a non-significant data in the study. The most painful trigger point is T1 of the upper right trapezius, measured with the algometer. Regarding Pearsons correlation between variables, it be has obtained that the most relevant value (0.7356) corresponds to the relationship between jaw pains at the end of the working day with headache measured in VAS. The second relevant data (0.5152) was the relationship of neck pain with headache measured in VAS. CONCLUSIONS: The pain of the TMJ and the neck that the teachers present in the primary schools of El Quinche are not related to each other by activities such as talking or eating that they perform on their work day, but they are related to the headache that the teacher presents. |
