dc.descriptionOBJECTIVE: To analyze the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms of dentists in the province of Pichincha through the Nordic Questionnaire and demographic questions that will determine the relationship between the variables. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional randomized descriptive type, in which 80 dentists were included between men and women with an age range between 30 and 60 years, who agreed to participate in the study by filling out the Nordic Questionnaire and who are also Working within the province of Pichincha, the data was collected from November 25, 2019 until December 19, 2019, using the bivariate analysis using a chi-square to establish the relationship between musculoskeletal symptoms and the selected variables in advance This study respects the ethical considerations of the project, adhering to the declaration of Helsinki. RESULTS: The chi-square analysis determined that dentists suffer discomfort at the level of the neck, spine, shoulder, wrist and hand due to their work activity, because the highest percentage of the population (88 percent) reported discomfort in Some of the aforementioned body segments, referred to in the last 12 months, obtained that 83 percent have discomfort in the neck and back, 75 percent in the upper limb (shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand), another result that influenced the data The work time was obtained, since on average 49.2 percent of the sample works for more than 40 hours per week, increasing the time of appearance, duration and intensity of discomfort. CONCLUSIONS: In this professional practice the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms is shown, which is mainly related to prolonged hours of work per week. In this study it was possible to analyze that, 88 percent, that is, 70 participants, refer to musculoskeletal symptoms in some body segment, the most affected being the cervical and dorsal area with 67 dentists (83 percent) and secondly the upper limb with 60 dentists (75 percent).en
