Dwarfism is a disease that affects a small number of the population worldwide. In Ecuador, it is estimated that there are about six thousand people with this physical condition, mainly in the provinces of Loja and El Oro. Thanks to the constant scientific studies and the evolution of medicine, it has been observed that there are more than 300 types of disorders that cause dwarfism, but unfortunately not half of them are known due to different biological, social and cultural factors. In 2012, the Ministry of Public Health added dwarfism in the list of orphan, rare or catastrophic diseases, allowing the State to take measures to ensure safety, rights and above all a decent quality of life for those who suffer from this disease. Within this research, it is emphasized that various social and cultural factors may have an impact on dwarfism. This research was developed based on different studies and interviews with health professionals and public officials who from their experience and work provided relevant information. It also highlights the legal framework that protects people who suffer dwarfism in Ecuador, as well as international standards and organizations that work positively to guarantee the rights of these people. This research proposes a qualitative methodological approach based on interviews and testimonies as main research techniques, in this way it was concluded that dwarfism is a disease that is increasing in the country, therefore, the State must continue to implement laws that protect people who suffer from this disease. On the other hand, work on the accessibility of the city, inclusion and good coexistence.en
