dc.descriptionThe enzyme alpha-amylase is one of the most important industrial endoamylases, catalyzes the hydrolysis reaction of starch molecules and converts them into polymers composed of glucose and maltose units. It has applications in the industries of food, textiles, paper, detergents, pharmaceutical, chemical, among others. In this study, the production and expression of the amyL alpha-amylase recombinant protein was performed from Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 14580 in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) expression cells using the pET SUMO vector. The transformation efficiency of E.coli Mach1T1-pUC19 cells obtained a value that was adequate to successfully carry out the experiment developed in this study. Additionally, the developed cloning and expression system of the amyL gene using the pET SUMO vector in E. coli BL21 cells (DE3), was able to successfully produce the enzyme alpha-amylase by induction with IPTG. In the same way, the use of the T7 promoter favored the expression of the alpha-amylase enzyme demonstrating detectable values ​​of enzyme activity and specific for it. Finally, the integrity of the amyL enzyme was demonstrated by electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels in the extracellular media precipitated with ammonium sulfate.en
