Descripción : In the livestock regions worldwide, the misuse of drugs and deworming has been overcome, causing resistance especially to anthelmintics; Therefore, essential oils (AE) have been considered as new alternatives to achieve a decrease in drug dependence. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the essential oil of orange (AEN) against the dewormer Fenbendazole in the diet of sheep (post-weaning females), in order to obtain a decrease of eggs of the gastrointestinal nematode Haemonchus contortus, the experimental study performed in the municipality of Espejo del Cantón Mejía, between a control group and two experimental groups with different treatments, each one starting with the control group that was deparasited with Fenbendazole and maintaining normal feeding conditions based on balanced and grazing, in As for the experimental ones, group 1 was given AEN in the balanced for 5 days and group 2 was given the same product for 10 days, it should be mentioned that all received water ad libitum during this time. The coproparasitic analyzes were performed at day 0 and 21 days of the prepatent period. The variables analyzed were weight gain, body condition, egg count and FAMACHA ©. The statistical results were described with the Wilcoxon test in weight gain, Friedman test in body condition and FAMACHA ©. For the egg count of H. contortus, the Kruskal Walis test was used due to the comparison between the 3 groups of the study, which differ in deworming (Fenbendazole and AEN) and the difference in the distribution of the AEN between groups, all these tests presented a result lower than the p-value of 0.05, the alternative hypotheses were approved, that is, the AEN had greater efficiency than the dewormer and also direct or indirect influence on weight gain, body condition and FAMACHA ©.
