At the international level, there are several hematological studies on healthy and free sea turtles that give an idea of the normal values to be found in these animals. It must be considered that this may vary depending on the geographical location, the species and the general condition of the animal. The green turtle (Chelonia mydas) is a species of marine turtle that is in danger of extinction and that can be found in the coastal line of several countries. Ecuador has a center for the rescue and rehabilitation of marine fauna, where injured or sick animals arrive to be treated and then reinserted into their habitat. For this, it is necessary to have a hematological database that gives a better idea of what could be found in unhealthy animals. The aim of this study is to determine the hematological patterns of hematocrit, total plasma proteins and cell counts in Chelonia mydas turtles that are housed in the rehabilitation center of Puerto López - Ecuador. The hematocrit was measured with capillaries and hematocrit card; The same capillary was used with a refractometer to measure the total plasma proteins and the counts of white blood cells; red blood cells and thrombocytes were made with a Neubauer chamber. For leukocyte differentials, Giemsa staining and light microscopy analysis were used. In the study, no significant difference was found between males and females for any of the hematological parameters studied and a slight increase in the number of erythrocytes, leukocytes, heterophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and thrombocytes were observed in comparison with other studies in free animals. The present work could serve as a basis for future work on animals in captivity and the parameters collected from the turtles could be used as a guide within the rehabilitation center.en
