dc.descriptionThe aeration systems are applied in a number of industrial processes where they determine the efficiency of the same. Currently, the study of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) provides the capabilities to simulate the hydrodynamics of different processes and evidence the behavior of fluids in them. In the present work, a numerical simulation of a Bubblecolumn is performed using the solver twoPhaseEulerFoam of OpenFOAM open access software, with a turbulent model called LES - Large Eddy Simulation that allows the interaction of two fluids (water and air) in a Euler-Euler regime. Two types of air inlet diffusers were defined with a variation in the distribution and size of the orifices (20 holes with diameter of 2 mm and 4 mm) and 3 water column heights (0.8 m, 1.6 m and 2.4 m) giving a total of 6 simulation units for which an air intake speed of 0.1 m / s was established. The geometry previously described was performed in the SALOME software. Finally, the post-processing of data was carried out with ParaView, from which a simulation of an average of 2 seconds with folders every 0.05 seconds was obtained. From the simulation, graphs of the behavior of the fluids in the aeration tank were obtained and the presence of 5 regimes was defined in 50 percent of the simulation units (Mono-dispersed homogeneous flow, Pseudo-homogeneous flow, the transition flow, heterogeneous flow and slug flow), while in the other 50 percent only 3 regimes were observed (Mono-Dispersed Homogeneous flow, Pseudo-homogeneous flow and the transition flow).en
