Introduction: Among the most frequent problems due to weakness of the pelvic floor musculature is the prolapse of pelvic organs, the most common being the cystocele, whose main symptom is urinary incontinence (UI). Objective: To analyze the effect of Kegel and Core exercises on pelvic floor muscle strength and quality of life in women with UI of effort product of a grade l cystocele. Materials and methods: This study included 12 female patients with UI of effort due to a cystocele. We compared the effectiveness of Kegel exercises (GEK) vs Core exercises (GEC) during 4 weeks of treatment. The strength of the pelvic floor muscles was evaluated using the Laycock Scale "PERFECT", and the impact on quality of life with the Urinary Incontinence Questionnaire ICIQ-SF. The pre-test and post-test evaluation was carried out. Results: Muscle strength showed a significant improvement (0.034) for the GEC post-test compared to GEK. The sustentation showed a marginally significant improvement between post GEC and GEK (p equal 0.049). The number of repetitions and the speed also confirmed a significant improvement for the GEC post-test compared to the GEK post-test with values p equal 0.001, p equal 0.008 respectively. In UI, the affectation in daily life showed a significant improvement between post GEC and GEK (p equal 0.001). In relation to the moments of loss of urine and the frequency also confirmed a significant improvement for the GEC post-test compared to the GEK with values of 0.034 and 0.059 respectively. While in the amount of urine loss did not show a great improvement (0.157) for the post-test of the GEC compared to the posttest of the GEK. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrate that both Kegel and Core exercises produce beneficial effects in the strengthening of pelvic floor musculature and in the quality of life of female patients with UI of effort due to a cystocele. However, it was possible to demonstrate greater efficacy in the GEC.en
