| Resumen : | La periodontitis es una enfermedad iniciada con la inflamación de la encía, y del periodonto, producida por la placa bacteriana que está compuesta por microorganismos que ocupan el área sub y supragingival. En esta enfermedad se puede determinar bolsas periodontales, pérdida de inserción, es decir, el margen gingival está por debajo de la línea amelocementaria. (Escudero.N. Et al. 2008. Pp 27-37). Objetivo: Establecer la prevalencia de la enfermedad periodontal en la Institución Educativa Fiscal Sucre de la ciudad de Quito. Materiales y métodos: La presente investigación es de tipo descriptivo y también es transversal, se evaluó a 110 estudiantes de entre 13 y 17 años de edad, donde 35 fueron de género femenino y 75 de género masculino. Se utilizó el examen básico periodontal, para evaluar la prevalencia de problemas periodontales en la Institución Educativa Fiscal Sucre, para finalizar se les dio una charla de higiene oral y se les dio una pasta del y un cepillo dental como un regalo. Resultados: Dando como resultado que diez estudiantes del total de los 110 tuvieron problemas periodontales, siendo así: 1 estudiante de 13 años, ningún estudiante de 14 años, 3 estudiantes de 15 años, 2 estudiantes de 16 años y 4 estudiantes de 17 años. Conclusiones: Como resultado de la investigación se logró determinar la prevalencia de periodontitis de 10 jóvenes en un grupo de 110 estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Fiscal Sucre de la ciudad de Quito. |
| Descripción : | Periodontitis is a disease which starts with inflammation of the gingiva and periodontium, and it is caused by bacterial plaque that is composed of microorganisms occupying the sub and supragingival area. In this disease can be determined periodontal pockets, loss of insertion, that is, the gingival margin is below the enamel-cementary juntion. (Escudero et al., 2008, pp. 27-37). Objective: To establish the prevalence of periodontal disease in the Institución Educativa Fiscal Sucre of the city of Quito. Materials and methods: The present investigation is descriptive and also cross-sectional, 110 students between 13 and 17 years, where 35 were female and 75 males. Were evaluated through periodontal basic examination, to evaluate the prevalence of periodontitis in Institución Educativa Fiscal Sucre, finally they received oral hygiene talk and a toothpaste and a toothbrush as give. Results: As a result, ten students from the total of 110 had periodontal problems, with the following ages; 1 of 13 years old students, 0 of 14 years old students, 3 of 15 years old students, 2 of 16 years old students and 4 of 17 years old students. Conclusions: As a result of the investigation, we determined the prevalence of periodontitis was of 10 students in a group of 110 students of the Educational Institution Sucre of the city of Quito. |
