Descripción : Introduction: among the pathologies, whose epidemiology index is high especially in the most vulnerable populations, which comprehends people in ages 45 and beyond; who also wear total dental prostheses; there is the stomatitis, whose main cause is the bad dental hygiene, promoting the elevated growth of candida albicans. Objective: this comparative and lab-research searched to assess the effectiveness of three substances: borosan, sodium bicarbonate and distilled water, taking into consideration the growth of three candida albicans, after being exposed to these three substances and observing the growth after 48 hours. Method: there where 3 groups of acrylic resin to be contaminated, each group underwent distilled water exposure to free the residual monomers of the acrylic. A surface was polished and the other remained rough (surface to contaminate), the three samples were labeled such as “group a” for distilled water (control group) and 20 samples from “a1” to “a20”. the “group b” for borosan (study group) and 20 samples from “b1” to “b20” and “gropu c” for 5 percent sodium bicarbonate (study group 2), 20 samples from “c1” to “c20.” The groups were sterilized to later be exposed and contaminated by candida albicans and to expose them to the substances in the marked times. distilled water for 5 minutes, borosan for 3 minutes, 5 percent sodium bicarbonate for 10 minutes to observe after 48 hours the fungi growth and to determine which one has the best effectiveness against candida albicans. Result: the results determined that the substances with best effectiveness after 48 hours was borosan in a 3 minute time span. seconded by the 5 percent sodium bicarbonate and finally the distilled water Conclusions: we determine the effectiveness of borosan and the sodium bicarbonate applied in the established times and dosage; being the borosan the Most effective and statistically significant in comparison with the sodium bicarbonate against the candida albicans.
