Resumen : El Ecuador cuenta con un oleoducto que permite el transporte de crudo liviano y pesado desde la región oriental hasta la región litoral del Ecuador...
Descripción : Ecuador has a pipeline that allows the transport of light and heavy crude oil, from the East to the coastal region of the Ecuador. In his path the pipeline crosses areas of high geological activity which affects and constantly wears out piping of the oil pipeline, being one of the main causes of oil spills in several areas of the Ecuador. This degree project aims to develop a system able to perform a constant monitoring of the pipeline based on the measurement of the phenomenon of refraction of optical fiber, this can be detected in advance possible geological events that future can jeopardize the integrity of the pipeline. This system will be able to detect changes in the signal of the fiber and send alerts via e-mail to the person responsible for the safety of the pipeline. The development of this system was instrumental in a wide collection of information and research on issues related to the technologies used, this information was used as a support for the realization of this project. Developed system comprises two main parts: The Hardware consisting of a electric optical instrument (OTDR) for obtaining data and the Software of monitoring of geological events that is is responsible for the processing, analysis and comparison of data obtained previously by the OTDR for sending alerts. Through performance tests of the software you can verify that the system presented in this degree project meets the main objectives. This project seeks to significantly improve the geological management of the pipeline by automating data collection and detection of geological hazards in order to prevent economic losses involving spills of crude oil as well as also to prevent damage to the flora, fauna and towns near the pipeline.
