Descripción : According to data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) in a study conducted in 2004, approximately 60 and 90 percent of the school population suffers from dental caries, in Ecuador, about 87.5 percent of children under the age of 12 suffer this disease, according to data obtained by the Ministry of Public Health. Tooth decay is the main factor that pulp treatments are performed in primary teeth. Dental care center at the “Universidad de Las Américas” through its undergraduates has made treatments to patients from 2012 to the present. By collecting data from medical records, 318 cases were contemplated; from which 194 correspond to pulpotomy, 135 to biopulpectomy and 70 to necropulpectomy; and in some cases, patients needed two treatments simultaneously. Of the 318 cases approximately 60 percent belonged to males and 40 percent to females, the more frequently apllied treatment was the pulpotomy. The ages in most need of endodontic treatment are between 7-8 years, corresponding to 33 percent of analyzed cases. There was no great significance in most data, according to the chi-square test p greater than 0.05. The lower jaw was the most affected and therefore, it demanded a higher need of endodontic treatments.
