Descripción : As part of the professional preparation of the career of Architecture, School of Architecture of Universidad de las Américas, it is established that for the last semester a multidisciplinary workshop of urban research takes place to identify phenomena and conflicts that the contemporary cities face and, compared to this, the most strategically developed solutions consistent with the territory. The workshop considers an architect profile that evaluates the various critical capacities of Urban - Architectural phenomena, where it clearly reflects that all architectural components have an urban impact. As a result of this workshop, the development includes an urban plan (POU), created from a research exercise, analysis, evaluation and conceptualization of the study area. POU is generated with a systemic view of the city, looking for solutions and answers to the problems and demands of the city, to ensure social, economic, cultural and environmental development. Consequently the (POU) proposed topics for thesis projects have substantial support and duly justified to become responses to urban-architectural phenomena made in an extensive previous study of the city. Each project is part of the sector's needs and responds to the characteristics or roles that the neighborhood has. IT also proposed equipment that contributes to the cultural development of the neighborhood and in return provides the hosting service to users, as the area lacks facilities for accommodation. The Hotel Galería Chimbacalle is a friendly project towards the environment in which it is located. Taking into account the history OF the place, it is been designed to reinterpret the new cultural role that the neighborhood has. Special attention to history has been considered to reinterpret its users, uses, and also in the arrangement of the different volumes built. This responds to the morphology and implantation of the built environment. It is proposed that the project will have two components, one housing and the other involving the arts and culture occupations as engines for development. Accommodations to the users who develop cultural activities and wishing to engage in them in an effort to keep it always active, in addition to tourists visiting the area and wish to visit the project for a temporary stay focused project. The great imbalance of the housing stock has been analyzed. Facing this reality are integrated into certain planning volumes that define housing typology that are able to accommodate family needs and satisfy the needs of accommodation for people wishing to enter the neighborhood to live within the project. Being a highly densified neighborhood a proposed public space that integrates the industry and compensates for the lack of such spaces for users and residents by integrating a proposal that involves vegetation to green networks proposed in the city. To achieve these spaces several buildings have been chosen to split the program and in no case exceed the height of its surrounding forests, achieving better implementation and integration. The biggest and more consolidating volumes, located on the upper part of the lot, hold the high floor apartments along the corridor including a commerce area on the base flor, that include services ab exterior access. The disperses volumes of the project correspond to art workshops surrounded by the main squares of public space and green areas that serve as cultural spaces. Finally it contains a hotel destined for touristic purposes in which the train station serves as main attraction.
