Descripción : | The aims of the present paper is compare the efficiencies of changes made on lombrifiltro filter layers by characterizing initial and final condition of pollutant parameters by physical and chemical analysis. The affluent were from Metropolitan Slaughterhouse of Quito. Six experimental tanks were installed at Universidad de Las Américas installations (Queri building), each one with different stratification for compare their efficiency and find the best mixture for treat wastewater; the filter layer used were: pumice, river stone ball, gravel, pine shavings and sawdust, eucalyptus leaves (Euca/yptus g/obu/us) and earthworms (Eisenia foetida}. The tank 2 (corresponding to the know technology) and tank 3 (used pumice variant) were the most efficient tanks removing between 90-93 percent BOD, 84 percent COD, 56-81 percent TN, 98-99 percent SS. The eucalyptus leaves did not interfere with the development of the lifecycle of earthworms. It demonstrates that pumice and eucalyptus leaves work as variants for this technology. |
