Descripción : The project entitled "The Birthday Gift" aims to address the theme of materialism and consumerism, it tries to raise awareness to the viewer about the negative aspects of it, through the adaptation of the children's story "The Birthday Gift" of the Ecuadorian author Maria Fernanda Heredia in a 3D animated short. Using proper techniques and knowledge in modeling, animation and 3D texture along studies Multimedia and Audiovisual Production at UDLA. Applying the concepts acquired in the study of Multimedia and Audiovisual Production was achieved a solid story adaptation, consistent and easy to understand for the target group. With the intention of showing children the importance of human values and feelings about material things and try to sensitize children on the importance of appreciating a gift made with love, without regardless of price. And finally to publicize the work of the writer Maria Fernanda Heredia. The target group for the short are children between 6 and 11 years old of social middle and upper middle class of the city of Quito. This led to toddlers because it is the age when children begin to read, and begins the development of logical thinking, learning to equate fantasy with reality, and there is more progress in social and emotional behavior. It is very important to address the issue of consumerism for the development of our society, this film aims to give a positive message to enable young children to assess the true meaning of a gift. Understanding the importance of human values and feelings about the economic-material, through a striking visual art and fun such as 3D animation, and this is ironically in Ecuador one of the resources that are being widely used for advertising and brand marketing and products.
