Descripción : In recent years, the consumption of mortiño has increased radically, due to its high content of vitamins, anthocyanins and phenolic compounds in the fruits, which has attributed medicinal properties, making it a functional food with agroindustrial potential. However, current production is not enough to meet demand, since commercial crops have not been developed, mainly due to the difficulty of reproduction by sexual and / or asexual means, and the limited information available on effective methods for mass propagation. . Adequate technology, management plans and conservation of the species can give the potential use of this fruit in agricultural development, increasing yield and generating local varieties in the country. The use of biotechnological tools such as tissue culture is an alternative that can contribute to developing propagation techniques for the domestication of the mortiño. The INIAP tissue culture laboratory has developed an efficient technology for the multiplication of (Vaccinium floribundum Kunth) in liquid media through the application of RITA type Temporary Immersion Systems. For which the effect of volume (100 and 200 mL) in the liquid culture medium and immersion frequencies of (four and eight hours for one minute) were studied. A Completely Random Design (DCA) was used in a 2x2 factorial arrangement with 5 observations for each treatment. When evaluating the treatments after 5 weeks, it was determined that treatment 1 obtained the best responses when working with optimal factors of volume 200 mL and frequency of immersion of 4 hours per 1 minute with respect to the variables analyzed. Obtaining with this interaction of factors 100per cent of viable seedlings. For the variable number of shoots, an average of 8.56 shoots out of explant. In the best treatment, shoots were generated with averages of 9.10mm in length. The highest multiplication coefficient obtained was 4.39 per cent. In all treatments, none of the outbreaks showed symptoms of hyperhydration (0 per cent).
