Resumen : La contaminación lumínica es la alteración de niveles de iluminación nocturna causada por fuentes de luz artificial...
Descripción : Light pollution is the alteration of night lighting levels caused by artificial light sources. Urban growth has caused the use of artificial lighting in an excessive and unnecessary way in high traffic and commercialization areas of the city. Producing harmful effects on the health of human beings and altering the ecological balance of a variety of plants, nocturnal animals and microorganisms, in addition to the obvious energy and economic waste. The objective of the study is based on the evaluation of light pollution of the United Nations Av. Pollution measurements were made by night sky brightness with the meter (SQM-LU-DL), to determine the levels of light pollution in the area and measurements in Carapungo for comparison. Illuminance was measured with the equipment (MAVOLUX 5032 C / B), in two selected grids (La Carolina Park and Quicentro Shopping), to determine the areas with the highest to lowest illuminance value. The DIALux software was used to perform simulations of the level of illuminance of the avenue measured, initial and depreciated and with the information collected, it was compared with the levels of national and international regulations. In addition, improvement measures were proposed for the public lighting system in the area. Levels of light pollution were determined below 17.95 mag / arcsec2 on the avenue and an oversize of 50.7 times more was calculated in the La Carolina park bay and 50.2 times more in the Quicentro Shopping bay, with respect to at the regulated illuminance levels. It was concluded that, based on measurements made of sky quality and illuminance, the sector has high values of light pollution due to the use of artificial lighting. The use of LED lamps is proposed, to achieve an oversize that meet the values established in the standard, increasing energy efficiency, useful life, lower maintenance costs and decreasing the harmful effects on the health of human beings, wildlife and the environment by light pollution.
