Descripción : OBJECTIVES: the objective of this research is to develop a protocol for the care of cardiac patients treated with oral anticoagulants who attend the UDLA Dental Care Clinic (CAO), in order to facilitate the clinical decisions of the teacher and the student to carry out effective treatments that seek to maintain optimal hemodynamics in anticoagulated patients. In this manner, the dental treatments that can and cannot be performed will be determined, maintaining anticoagulant therapy without medical referral. In addition, the laboratory tests that will be requested, are going to be established with their respective values that allows the continuity of the treatments, and also the appropriate pharmacological therapeutic behavior. MATERIALS AND METHODS: scientific articles on the dental management of cardiac patients under oral anticoagulant treatment, indexed in the Scopus database whose ranking is registered in the SCImago Journal & Country Rank, and the research of Ojeda, M. will be used to prepare the protocol, "Management of oral anticoagulants in cardiac patients undergoing dental processes in the period 2018 -1 and 2018 -2" prepared at the CAO. As part of the protocol validation process, its sketch is going to be presented to the area chiefs of oral surgery, endodontics, internal medicine, and periodontics and implantology at the faculty for their evaluation and approval. RESULTS: a protocol was established that guides appropriate dental behavior specifying the circumstances that require medical consultation prior to dental care, besides to perioperative and postoperative management, which details the use of hemostatic measures, the control and adequate prescription of drugs, considering anticoagulant therapy, among other aspects. CONCLUSIONS: dental treatments with low risk of bleeding do not require a medical referral for their execution. If the patient takes AVK, it will be continued as long as the INR is in its therapeutic range2 - 3.5, and if any drugs have been prescribed, it is necessary to maintain INR controls for the first 2 to 4 days with the treating physician.

Descripción : Bisphosphonates are used to treat bone diseases, these bind avidly to calcium crystals, inhibiting osteoclastic resorption; which makes them ideal for the treatment of osteoporosis, imperfect osteogenesis, osteopenia, Paget's disease and metastatic bone diseases, in which bone density is a normal. Bisphosphonates have certain toxic effects on osteoclasts (bone remodeling cells), as they do not allow them to perform the bone remodeling process no proper removal of the bone that has fulfilled its function, so they can cause osteonecrosis in jaws when performing a procedure where there is bone exposure, such as: exodontics, implants, periodontal treatments, among others. Objective: To determine the management of surgical patients with bisphosphonate treatment in the Dental Care Center of the University of the Americas from 2015 to 2019. Method: Authorization was requested from the Coordination of the Dental Care Center to access the file of medical records. The clinical records of patients with a history of surgical procedures were searched in the different undergraduate and postgraduate folders, the data found had to meet inclusion and exclusion criteria, this information was recorded in a form respectively. This procedure was carried out during the semester of 2020-1. Results: 23 patients were evaluated, of which a female predominance of 95.7 per cent was presented. According to the therapeutic behavior and pathology, in the 23 people evaluated, 1 patient was found that did not register pathology as a personal history. Among the rest of the 22 patients, 60.9 per cent presented osteoporosis and 26.1 per cent had osteopenia. From the total of patients considered as part of the sample, 65.2 per cent did not present enough information was recorded. In 21.8 per cent of patients, an adequate therapeutic behavior was handled and in 13.1 per cent the therapeutic behavior was inadequate. Conclusions: In the study, the female gender was almost absolutely predominant in relation to the male gender, with greater representation in the age range from 56 to 65 years. The predominate pathology in the investigation was osteoporosis.

Descripción : The present work focuses on the prevalence of gingival contours. This assessment zenith is an important component of the aesthetics of the smile. The zenith is defined as an imaginary line that is drawn between the most apical part of the gingival margin of the upper central incisor and the upper canine, determining several patterns by the lateral position: sinuous, straight and breaking patterns. Objective: To find prevalence in the gingival contour in students aged 18 to 30 who attend the Dentistry Faculty at University of the Americas. Materials and methods: This research included 200 people from whom 105 were women and 95 men, between 18 to 30 years old. The process included takig a frontal photograph with sectioned dividers, the further WORD analysis allowed to trace the patterns; line from the central incisor to the canine; line that passes from the central incisor to the lateral and finally to the canine; all the points joined by lines obtaining the three established gingival patterns. Results: The harmony with the sample of 200 people is present in 75 percent of both genders but in the same way there are three ramifications; winding winding 94 percent, straight straight 3 percent, breaking patterns breaking patterns 3 percent. By gender the values of harmony are; female 55 percent, divided into 94 percent sinuous sinuous, 4 percent straight straight, 2 percent pattern break pattern break; masculine values of harmony of 45 percent, it's divided into winding sinuous 94 percent, straight straight 1 percent, breaking patterns breaking patterns 5 percent. The remaining gender percentage was made with three combinations of non harmonic patterns; female, winding straight 27 percent, winding breaking patterns 64 percent, straight-breaking patterns 9%, male, winding-straight 29 percent, winding breaking patterns 54 percent, straight breaking patterns 18 percent. In conclusion that the gingival pattern with the highest prevalence in the students of the Faculty of Dentistry is the sinuous one in both upper quadrants, in this way it is determined that there is a higher percentage in harmony.2020-01-01T00:00:00ZOpinión de un estudiante de pregrado sobre la utilización de dos técnicas para la colocación de hidróxido de calcio como medicación intraconductoSalazar Portilla, Sandy Lizbethhttp://dspace.udla.edu.ec/handle/33000/119642021-02-19T01:36:11Z2020-01-01T00:00:00ZTítulo : Opinión de un estudiante de pregrado sobre la utilización de dos técnicas para la colocación de hidróxido de calcio como medicación intraconducto
