In the daily practice of veterinary medicine of small species is common the emergency attention and gastrointestinal emergencies in canines. These conditions must be addressed and differentiated quickly and accurately to avoid severe damage. It is very important to distinguish those disorders that require surgical resolution; usually these pathologies correspond to foreign bodies located in esophagus (CEE), stomach (CEG), small intestine (CEID) and large intestine (CEIG) megaesophagus (M), intestinal intussusceptions (IIN) and gastroesophageal (IG) gastric volvulus (DVG), mesenteric volvulus dilation (DVM), septic peritonitis (PS), neoplasms, etc. The objective of this investigation is to know the frequency of gastrointestinal pathologies with surgical resolution and their predisposition for the variables age, race, sex and size of the patient using the statistical method Odds Ratio. This studio was carried out at the Lucky Veterinary Hospital. The information was collected from medical records from years 2012-2017 of patients with a gastrointestinal pathology were studied and who in turn underwent surgery. Obtaining a sample of 208 clinical records. The statistical analysis indicated that age, race, sex and size are predisposing factors for the presentation of gastrointestinal pathologies with surgical resolution. Regarding the age variable, puppy patients are predisposing to IG (OR igual 0.42), juvenile patients have a tendency to present CEID (OR igual 0.26), adult patients presented predisposition to CEID (OR igual 0.40), in geriatric patients showed a propensity towards CEG (OR igual 0.24). For the variable race, there were two groups of patients with greater frequency in the presentation of gastrointestinal pathologies with surgical resolution and are: Mestizo 20.2 por ciento (42/208), French Poodle 15.9 por ciento (33/208). On the other hand, the sex variable indicated that male dogs are 1.13 times more predisposing than female dogs for the presentation of such disorders. Finally, the size showed that miniature patients are predisposing to CEID (OR igual 0.22), while small patients have a tendency to CEID (OR igual 0.18). Likewise, the median patients are inclined towards the presentation of CEG (OR igual 0.34). While large patients are predisposing to CEID (OR igual 0.53). Likewise, the giant patients showed predisposition to DVG (OR igual 1.16).en
