Descripción : The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of a neuropsychological rehabilitation protocol in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia treated in a specialized hospital in the city of Quito. It has a quantitative approach, explanatory scope and pretest / posttest design with a control group. The study will be carried out in specialized psychiatric hospitals, located in Quito. The sample will include 76 patients, men and women, who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia in ages between 18 and 65 years of age who are treated in these health houses, both on an outpatient basis and in hospital. Of these, 38 patients will be randomly assigned to the control group and 38 to the experimental group. As data collection tools, four neuropsychological tests will be used to evaluate cognitive functions; the Wisconsin Card Classification Test, to assess the executive function of patients, Trail Making Test, will evaluate executive function and attention, while The Brief Test of Attention, attention, and finally, The Hopkins Verbal Learning Test - Revised, will evaluate the memory of these patients. These tests will be applied before and after neuropsychological rehabilitation. For neuropsychological rehabilitation, it is proposed to replicate a study carried out in Spain in 2012; Ojeda et al, 2012b, page 577, where they use REHACOP, which is a neuropsychological rehabilitation program for schizophrenia, rehabilitation will be carried out performed in 12 weeks, with a frequency of three times a week for 90 minutes, reaching a total of 36 sessions. Once the rehabilitation and with the results of the pretests and posts / tests, a descriptive statistic will be made to analyze the first two specific objectives, in addition, the pretest data will be analyzed with the t student to verify that there are no significant differences between the groups. After that a general linear model will be made for repeated measures to determine the intragroup and intergroup effects of the results obtained.
