dc.descriptionThe parents are the first contact that the child has when he is born, because they are the ones who have the first experiences to fully develop, nevertheless, within these, it is the social area that allows him to acquire skills and skills necessary to form his personality. These behavioral models that the child learns through his parents are influenced by the parenting practices that have them. According to the Education Curriculum (2014) on the personal and social axis and the Portage Guide (1972) describes a number of social skills that children at the age of 4 to 5 should already have acquired. Therefore, the present study has as its theme: "Parental styles and their influence on the personal and social development axis of the initial education curriculum in children aged 4 to 5 years in a private children's center in the city of Quito". The main objective of this research is to analyze how parental styles influence the personal and social development axis of the initial education curriculum in children from 4 to 5 years old. A qualitative approach with an exploratory scope has been chosen. The tools used were, the non-participant observation of 10 children from 4 to 5 years in a private children's center in the city of Quito and surveys of their parents, with the aim of demonstrating the skills developed in the social field, and knowing the style. Finally, an interview was conducted with a clinical psychologist to obtain another point of view about the parental styles. After a careful analysis of the results, it was found that there is a relationship between family styles and the personal and social development of the| child, highlighting the democratic parental style as the one that has the greatest influence on the development of skills in children.en
