Descripción : The Ecuadorian political system, on several occasions, has been the object of study due to its particularities, so after the variations it has suffered, it has been necessary to study and reevaluate it. The most recent variation has occurred after the Electoral Reform, through the creation of the Organic Electoral Law and Political Organizations of the Republic of Ecuador, Democracy Code. As its name indicates, the law was created in order to regulate the Ecuadorian political system. This academic work aims to perform an analysis and evaluation of changes within the electoral system and the Ecuadorian party system, following the creation of the so-called Code of Democracy. Additionally, through the theoretical application, determine if the electoral systems are the ones who define the party system (Duverger's law) or, on the contrary, the party system is what determines the electoral system (Colomer) in Ecuador. The importance of this research, lies in determining if the motivation for the creation of the aforementioned law has been met, which allows evaluating the effectiveness of the changes made and if these contributes to greater stability in the electoral system and the party system. To carry out the evaluation, it will be necessary to use mathematical formulas, such as the Effective Number of Political Parties, Vote Fragmentation, Vote Concentration and Volatility, that sustain the analysis of the theory. In this way the analysis will not be reduced to the theory, but on the contrary it will have a quantitative evaluation of the results after the reform.
