Descripción : Introduction: Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common pathology occurring in the elderly, especially in older women with advanced age, due to various factors. The number of deliveries could have an impact on the stability of the pelvic floor during the gestation period due to the fetus weight and hormonal changes in women. Objective: To determine the prevalence and risk factors in urinary incontinence in women aged 45 to 65 years attended in the gynecology, urology and geriatric services of the Padre Carollo Hospital in the period from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2017. Material and method: 887 clinical histories of females between 45 and 65 years old were examined in the areas of gynecology, urology and geriatrics of the Padre Carollo Hospital, 45 patients were diagnosed with urinary incontinence, 44 of them with stress urinary incontinence and 1 with mixed urinary incontinence. The parameters analyzed in our sample were age, occupation, BMI, hypertension, obesity, type of treatment used to resolve urinary incontinence. Results: The prevalence of urinary incontinence was 5.07 percent. The number of deliveries was a significant factor (p 0.002) based on the Chi2 test. Using multiple regression there were significant associations for the number of deliveries (p 0.003), women without hypertension (p 0.030) and women without any deliveries (p0.016). Beta score also agreed with these results. Conclusions: UI was significantly associated with the number of deliveries in relation to other factors considered in our study.
