dc.descriptionMany concerns has raised worldwide among researchers due to the gradual growth in mortality of Apis mellifera, which has lead to look for an effective and efficient determination method of viruses in bee hives such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The objective of this investigation was to establish the conditions for the detection of acute bee paralysis virus (ABPV) and Deformed Wing Virus (DWV) viruses in bees with the polymerase chain reaction technique. Different tests were carried out to establish the specificity and sensitivity of the technique. The temperature obtained for the hybridization was 53.4°C, the concentration of MgCl2 was 1 mM, while the concentration of primers was 0.2 μM. . The limit of detection for the DWV virus was 10-2 ng / μl and for ABPV it is 10-3 ng / μl. The PCR technique proved being a fast, specific and reliable tool, which will allow starting new investigations in viruses´ prevalence in beehives all over the country.en
