Descripción : Dermatological diseases represents a problem for animal shelters, because of the cost and duration of the treatments, public health, for the reason that they can be very contagious for other animals, or that they make difficult the adoption of the affected dogs. This is the reason why a case study was implemented based on clinical and para-clinical examination, analysis of tests, diagnostic reasoning, therapeutic intervention, follow-up and results, and evaluating the individual response of each one of the dogs in the “Paraíso Huellas Rescate Animal Ec” shelter, located in the parish Guayllabamba. The objective of this study was to diagnose and treat the dermatopathies suffered by the animals in there. This was achieved by performing general and dermatological clinical examinations, microscopic observations of cytologies, using imprints with acetate tape technique, swabs, trichographs and skin scrapings; stained with Diff-Quick coloring. Initially, a general review of all the dogs living in the refuge was carried out to select those that showed compatible signs with a dermatological disease and those qualified to enter the study. In general, the samples were taken depending on the condition of each patient. They were obtained from the thoracolumbar, perianal, caudal area of the thighs, base of the tail and ears. A total of 5 canine residents of the refuge wereevaluated who, at the time of the study, presented dermatological problems. It was determined that allergic dermatitis to flea bite (DAPP), hypersensitivity to arthropod bite or also called fly dermatitis, and sarcoptic mange were those that mainly affected canine inhabitants.
