The main use in Ecuador of the sugarcane is the sugar production, in which the juice of the cane is extracted and later turned into sugar. After this process the leftovers of sugarcane bagasse are discarded. In this work sugarcane bagasse is used as an alternative acoustic material and friendly to the environment, when combined with binders used in construction such as plaster, mud, rubber and polyurethane. To make the panels, the bagasse is mixed with the binder in a ratio of three to one respectively. In this way a panel is obtained where the bagasse predominates in its total composition. In addition, it is proposed to make panels of three thicknesses 6, 12 and 25 mm, with each binder. The absorption coefficient of the panels is obtained following the guidelines of the standard UNE-EN ISO 10534- 2, Determination of the coefficient of acoustic absorption and of the acoustic impedance in impedance tubes, the absorption coefficient of the panels is obtained On the other hand, a statistical calculation of the standard deviation of the absorption coefficient obtained from the samples is performed. Subsequently, the transmission loss of each panel is theoretically calculated, using the theory of mass law, and in turn the transmission coefficient of each of the panel samples is obtained. Once the absorption coefficient and the transmission loss are obtained, a comparison is made between the panels with the same binder and also the same thickness but different binder. Finally, an economic evaluation of the handcrafted panels is carried out to compare them with acoustic and construction materials existing in the market, comparing the economic and environmental advantages.en
