Descripción : Dog behavioral problems have become relevant in recent years, as the link between people and their dogs has narrowed to the point where many people consider their dogs as an important part of their family. Behavioral problems affect this link, while in the United States more dogs are euthanized because of behavioral problems than health problems. This study sought to do a situational diagnosis of behavioral problems and determine if the factors of gender, breed and age are predisposing for the presentation of the same. The data was obtained through a survey of 200 dog owners attending the “Snoopy” veterinary clinic between the months of August, September, October and November of the year 2017. The survey was conducted as part of the consultation to those people who accessed voluntarily. The survey evaluated coprophagy, aggressiveness, separation anxiety, excessive vocalizations, phobia to sounds, compulsive behaviors and inadequate evacuations. By means of Fisher is exact correlation test at 90 percent and 95 percent of significance, the relationship between variants and behavioral problems was established and determined if these are associated with the presentation of behavioral problems. Of the 200 dogs studied, 158 (79 percent) showed phobia to sounds, 157 (78.5 percent) inappropriate evacuations, 140 (70 percent) compulsive scratching, 124 (62 percent) separation anxiety, 96 (48 percent) directed aggressiveness to people, 95 (47.5 percent) compulsive licking of the legs, 94 (47 percent) aggressiveness directed at dogs, 83 (41.5 percent) coprophagy, 39 (19.5 percent) compulsive licking of the base of the tail, 38 (19 percent) excessive vocalizations, 38 (19 percent) acral dermatitis due to licking, 37 (18.5 percent) compulsive pursuit of the tail, 16 (8 percent) compulsive head movement, 12 (6 percent) compulsive movement of paws and 5 (2.5 percent) did not present any behavior problem. Due to the number of variables, the dogs were distributed in groups according to gender, age and breed, according to the results obtained, in this study these variables are not significant for the appearance of the behavioral problems studied.
