Resumen : Estados Unidos es el país que más importa y consume chocolate a nivel mundial (CNN, 2012), y el que más población vegana tiene “Vegan Bits, 2017”...
Descripción : The Unites States of America has the highest rates for chocolate import and consumption worldwide (CNN, 2012). It also has the highest vegan population (Vegan Bits, 2017) in the world. Furthermore, there is an increasing demand for organic products, which represent responsible consumption. Therefore, there is an opening for products that comply with these qualities (Ramón, P. 2014). With the purpose of proving the viability of commercializing Premium Vegan Chocolates, a conceptual, operational and financial markets study in the American market was carried out for supporting the creation of the company Coco Cacao, name which represents the main ingredients of its products that are coconut and cacao beans. First of all, an external analysis was made as a starting point on the factors that influence the chocolate manufacturing industry. The PEST analysis of Ecuador and the US, as well as the Five Forces analysis of the US, demonstrated that the company has higher opportunities than threats, especially because it has the advantage of producing in Ecuador, country that has a complete access to the best quality ingredients and where it is also pertinent to apply the Fair-Trade Policy. Moreover, interviews and surveys were conducted with experts and potential clients, which confirmed that there is a business opportunity for the company to sell vegan and anti-allergenic chocolates in American supermarkets for which customers are willing to pay more. Eventually, the target market was chosen and consists of the residents of Los Angeles and San Diego in the state of California, with the highest vegan population in the country (PETA, 2016). To conclude, a conceptual and financial outline of the company was made, including the marketing mix, the company's philosophy, its legal and operational structure, processes and an exhaustive financial analysis, through which a high profitability was obtained with an IRR of the 54%, matching the results of the industry (Invests Ecuador, 2017), with a profitability index, which demonstrates that for every dollar invested, the investor receives $2.45, determining that the company does comply with the financial, market, operational and conceptual viability for its operation.
