dc.descriptionAesthetics and identity are important and necessary issues to achieve an artistic vision of music and its creative processes. Who is the artist? How is it defined? When is it original? How is a musical work constructed? What happens to the listener and the music he listens to? These are questions that are intimately related to these issues and that seek answers. For this reason, this work proposes the review and evaluation of the aesthetic and identity principles that occur in the artist and the musical creation, as well as, the processes of experimentation that the listener experiences through listening to musical works. This analysis is carried out, mainly by the work of the English socio-musicologist Simon Frith, who argues, briefly, that aesthetics describes the quality of musical experience and identity is a process of construction that concerns the individual. These definitions are correlated with those related to the common practices of a sample of musicians with different trajectories of the city of Quito.en
