Descripción : The present work of University degree has like main objective to know the level of temporomandibular disorders that are in the students of the School of dentistry at Universidad de las Américas using the Fonsecas simplified anamnesic index. Temporomandibular joint disorders are a musculoskeletal condition of pain that affects the TMJ, chewing muscles and - or associated structures. It is characterized by spontaneous pain and inducted pain by the mandibular function in the TMJ and the mastication muscles. Temporomandibular joint disorders are common in adults; up to a third of evaluated people had informed that may have one or more symptoms, which include jaw or neck pain, headache. A survey based on a questionnaire was conducted among the students of the dental school to know the level of TMD. The total number of 126 respondents, all undergraduate dentistry students, (71.4% women, 28.6% men), with an average age of 21 years, participated in this study. For the study, the Fonseca questionnaire was used, there were questions to answer with: no, sometimes and yes. The classification of the Fonseca index is: 0-15 points does not present DTM, 20-40 points presents mild DTM 45-65 points presents moderate DTM and 70-100 points presents severe DTM. The results show the evaluators that, 11.9% are WITHOUT DTM, 50.0% are MILD, 29.4% are MODERATE and 8.7% are SEVERE with a higher prevalence in women.
