Introduction: For a correct aesthetic assessment of the smile, considerations such as dental morphology must be taken since it is one of the most important, when assessing the harmony of a smile independently of the other factors that make up the smile, the length and width of the incisors become indispensable when categorizing the characteristics present mainly in the teeth of the anterior sector and come to classify them as an aesthetic option given that the clinician must expand his ability to determine appropriate aesthetic options for each patient. Objectives: The present work compared the degree of perception that dental students of the University of the Americas have for each of the characteristics modified in length and width of dental morphology in anterior teeth and related them to determine the option considered more aesthetic. Material and methods: A total of 80 students belonging to the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Americas were randomly selected and evaluated to evaluate the modifications exhibited in 4 clinical photographs of selected smile which changes in length and width were made with Adobe Photoshop CC2015. The requirement of the subject in terms of aesthetics refers to was collected by means of a survey in which will be defined altered length - width characteristics that demonstrate the central and upper lateral incisors more aesthetic for the patient. Results: A large number of respondents chose the “Image 2” option as the most aesthetic of which the correct feature was selected with a wide margin of accuracy in relation to the other options that did not correspond to the characteristics of the image. Conclusion: Dentistry students acquire a sense of aesthetics throughout their professional life, which is reflected in their ability to recognize length-of-width characteristics and to isolate their own aesthetic perception on the other options without deviating the aesthetic value of your initial choice compared to different image options.en
