dc.descriptionObjective: the objective of this study is to evaluate the level of knowledge about oral health in parents of school children who come to the Dental Care Center of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Americas, from which specific objectives were, established such as comparing the level of knowledge about oral health between mother and father, determine the level of knowledge about oral health according to the level of education of parents, and analyze the level of oral health knowledge according to the age of the parents. Materials and methods: a descriptive quantitative study of transversal design was conducted in the Dental Care Center of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Americas in the period November-December 2017, to 91 parents, in whom they were made a survey of 19 questions was carried out to measure the level of knowledge about oral health in terms of preventive measures and the relationship with gender, age and level of education. Results: it was obtained that the level of knowledge of parents evaluated is a regular level with 74.5% and only 9.9% is of a good level. The lowest levels of knowledge are the parents with primary education with 53.95%, while the highest levels of knowledge are in the parents of higher education with 70.05%. The percentages between father and mother are similar in the level of knowledge with a percentage of 60.7% and 61.5% respectively. The levels of knowledge between the different ages of the parents present not so significant differences with a percentage of 63.37% between 20 to 29 years, 59.81% between 30 to 39 years and with 62.44% among 40 or more years. Conclusion: Parents of family have a regular level of knowledge about oral health, and it is related to the basic level of instruction of parents between the ages of 30 and 39 years.en
