| Descripción : | Objectives: Evaluate the relationship of caries levels with the salivary pH between children in 8-9 years who study the 5th basic of the educational unit “Giovanni Antonio Farina”. Materials and Methods: 80 participants were examined with prior written authorization by the parents. For data collection, pH measuring strips were used and the review of all the teeth. Results: The findings showed no close relationship of pH with dental caries in children, revealing that the neutral pH and acid have an almost equal percentage in children who present and do not have caries, also the indexes according to OMS, low risk DMF and moderate risk def. Conclusions: Caries as a multifactorial disease, it need many causes to develop this pathology, and pH is not a factor predictable. Recommendations: It is advisable to have adequate hygiene, to visit the dentist, as well as to take into account the factors already described for the accomplishment of different studies. |
