Descripción : This study will measure the impact on the quality of life of people attending a dental appointment in the clinics of the University of Guayaquil, with the purpose of knowing how a person suffering from edentulism through survey and clinical observations measure the variables Which measure quality of life, oral problems, use of prosthetics, socioeconomic, level of education and selfperception of people. The objective of this research was to evaluate the impact of edentulism on Quality of Life in adult patients attended at the Pilot Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Guayaquil. This study evaluated the impact on quality of life of patients suffering from edentulism, be it partial or total, where the OHIP-14EC-validated survey at the University of the Americas was used. The subjects were previously analyzed in the integral clinic of the University of Guayaquil, through an intraoral clinical examination or review of the study models. If the patient complied with the established requirements, we proceeded to evaluate the CPO index, O Leary index, the use of prosthetics, questions about self-perception, socioeconomic levels and education. The OHIP-14-EC survey consists of 14 questions that help to measure the quality of life in patients with edentulism in which a selection of 201 people from the integral clinic of the Faculty Pilot of Dentistry of the City of Guayaquil Attended Care Dental care in the period 2016-2017. These types of items were marked by each patient in the integral dentistry clinic in an approximate time of 5 minutes for each patient Results: From a total of 201 participants selected, among people over 18 years of age, the following results were obtained: in the variable age with 31.3 percent the highest number of respondents had an age range of 41 to 50 years; With 57.7 percent women were the most concerned about having a dental treatment. In the educational level of those evaluated, 37.3 percent attended the third level of education; In terms of access to technology, 58.7 percent have all access to it. For each variable studied the significance value is compared with 0.05 (95 percent CI), if the significance level is higher than 0.05 is accepted Ho (initial hypothesis), if it is less than 0.05 Ha is accepted (Alternate hypothesis). In the indices obtained from the diagnosis made to each of the participants, there is no asymptotic significance, whose value is p same 0.289 in the CPO index, which adds up to decay, lost, and obturated, 83.6 percent is the most relevant percentage. We also analyzed the use of prostheses, whether fixed, removable or total, where the sum total of 87 people used prostheses. According to O'Leary is index, the patients have an average of 35.47 where we are told that patients have a deficient state in their oral hygiene. From the Kruskal Wallis test, the value of the asymptotic significance level in the bilateral test is p same 0.289 in the CPO index, p same 0.136 in the O Leary Index. At the socioeconomic level, it was p same 0.432, p same 0.315. In housing type, p same 0.373. These results show that the quality of life of the people surveyed are not affected when analyzing the results of all these variables Conclusions: In research conducted at the University of Guayaquil, it was determined that the quality of life is not altered in patients who have edentulism taking into consideration the other factors to study.
