| dc.description | According to World Health Organization standards, the minimum square meters per inhabitant is 9, which is not met in many Latin American nations and Ecuador is unfortunately on this “black” list. Data provided by the INEC (Ecuadorian Institute of Statistics and Censuses), reveal that Ecuador has only 4.69m² - hab which is a very alarming fact. The province of Pichincha is the only one that meets and exceeds WHO standards with 18.85%, but provinces like Guayas and Ríos have only 1.14% and 0.52% respectively. Thanks to these data, a new technique has been implemented to take advantage of wasted spaces and turn them into green areas, which is how the use of the Vertical Gardens has taken a great impulse in the Latin American market. The present project has investigated several types of building systems of these “green facades” and has been considered one in particular, taking into account the locality, the climate and the use q is going to give this Vertical Garden, the same which will be located on the facade of the University of the Americas Colón headquarters. | en |
