Descripción : Introduction: Croup is a pathology that specifically affects the larynx and trachea, causing inflammation of the same and obstructing of the upper airway. It has been established that 6 per 1000 children between 5 months and 3 years of age suffer from this disease. It produces symptoms such as nonspecific cough, respiratory distress, decreased oxygen saturation, wheezing and muscular retractions. Objective: To analyze variations in cardiorespiratory physiological parameters following the administration of nebulized racemic epinephrine with Heliox, in children from 5 months to 3 years of age with Croup moderate obstruction. Materials and methods: Five patients from 5 months to 3 years of age, with medical diagnosis of croup with moderate obstruction participated in the study. Three parameters were evaluated in the patients: 1) vital signs (respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature) using digital devices, 2) the degree of stridor using the Downes scale, and 3) the croup severity using the Taussig Score scale. These evaluations were done before, after the treatment, and 30 minutes finished the first nebulization. Patients received nebulized racemic epinephrine with Heliox at 6 L / min, through a simple mask connected to a Jet system micronebulizer. Results: Statistical analysis through a T-test showed a significant decrease in RR (p equal to 0.005); HR (p equal to 0.02), immediately after the first nebulization and RR (p equal to 0.03); HR (p equal to 0.003) 30 minutes later. The T decreased significantly (p equal to 0.03), only after 30 minutes. Contrary to the decrease in these parameters, the SO2 increased significantly (p equal to 0.001), after 30 minutes. The severity of croup decreased significantly in the Taussig scale (p equal to 0.003), at the end of the first nebulization and (p equal to 0.004) after 30 minutes. No significant change was observed on the Downes scale after the first nebulization. Conclusion: The administration of racemic adrenaline nebulized with Heliox, Improving thus the vital parameters evaluated.
