Resumen : La industria avícola al estar sometida a un crecimiento constante se ve desafiada por la presentación de enfermedades que afectan de manera drástica a la producción y a la economía del productor...
Descripción : The poultry industry undergoing constant growth has been challenged by the presentation of diseases that drastically affect the production and economy. To control the appearance of diseases, a preventive immunization or vaccination plan is applied to the birds, in order to develop a competent immune system. Newcastle is highly contagious and a mandatory report disease to the OIE. It has several strains that are differentiated by their aggressiveness; the most important is the neurotropic strain, causing up to 100 percent mortality. To diagnose the disease, the screening test is ELISA and Hemagglutination Inhibition (HAI) is used as a gold standard test, which uses specific kits and the sample to be analyzed. For the accomplishment of the present study, four experimental groups were conformed, each with 50 Cobb500 breed chickens, using a different vaccination plan for each one. For the analysis of the blood samples, AGROCALIDAD facilities and equipment were used. The statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Tukey tests. The final results showed that the birds presented specific immunity due to maternal antibodies; the birds showed immunity up to 11 days of age and thereafter there was no detectable immune response. Also no significant variation between the vaccination plans on experimental groups was evidenced. In conclusion, the birds were already immune since birth thanks to maternal antibodies, and there was no variation between the evaluated vaccine schemes, this related to the fact that there was no variation of the weight gain among the experimental groups, which demonstrates the adequate general health condition..
