Descripción : The current graduating project aimed to develop and to implement a prototype capable of providing a live video streaming service for the university community of FICA-UDLA. This faculty consists of a large number of students, and teaching and administrative staff, who are in constant participation of social and cultural events that take place in limited spaces to accommodate the entire community, or in places far from the Educational establishment. To fulfill the purpose of this project, an Android application was developed which will transmit live video content from a mobile device to a UNIX server. The implementation of a codec server in charge of video processing, and encoding in different formats and qualities over HTTP, allowed the visualization of video by the user using the HTML5 based Wed application developed in the present study. The modular and global tests allowed to verify that there was a correct reception and emission of the content. However, the processing time introduced by the NGINX server using the HLS protocol exceeds the expected time. In addition, the free software used in this project and the design of the implementation were adjusted to the hardware resources employed, concluding that the implementation of the live streaming service prototype for the FICA-UDLA was feasible and efficient, allowing a better communication between students, teachers and employees in general of the FICA-UDLA through the real-time transmission of events from any web browser and any operating system that the user owns in their computer.
