dc.descriptionThe present research was carried out with the purpose of informing the changes that have arisen over time in the role of the teacher, starting from the paradigms and the importance of the relationship that exists between teachers and students who present an intellectual disability. A structured interview was applied to 6 teachers of a particular Institute of the city of Quito, with the purpose of knowing part of the work that they carry out within the classroom and the strategies that they apply so that their students reach an effective learning. Through non-participant observation with a checklist, it was sought to determine how the application of key factors by teachers influences the well-being of children with special educational needs linked to a disability at the initial and first levels. Basic and how these factors generate an assertive relationship between them. Through a qualitative research tool and with a descriptive diagnostic approach, empathy and firmness are evidenced as key factors in establishing a relationship between teachers and students that provide a healthy interaction, which could directly affect the effective development and learning of each one of the actors of a particular Institute of the city of Quito, in the period 2016-2017.en
