| Descripción : | Tariff and restrictive policies applied to the automotive sector from 2008 changed the volume of import and export of vehicles in the country. The State has been a participant in the profits granted by the taxes, increasing its tax collection in the Special Excise Tax (ICE) of the vehicle sector. The present work is a study on the impact of the application of tariff measures by the Government to the automotive sector, the respective literature has been revised to the subject that involves the international trade, also, focused on the empirical evidence for the econometric modeling. The results for automobile imports (period 2003- 2014), in addition to other control variables, show that imports of this type of goods behave in an inelastic manner against prices when a tariff policy is adopted.
