The present study aims to analyze the relationship between quality and cost of antibiotics prescribed for uncomplicated Acute Bacterial Pharyngoamygdalitis in patients from the Medical Systems of the University of San Francisco de Quito, based on the available scientific evidence, as well as to evaluate the prescription, Determine the rate of over diagnosis, and propose a training plan for medical personnel on the appropriate use of antibiotics. The cost of antibiotics will be calculated based on the price of antibiotics because their importance at the time of clinical decision making is precisely a key factor for both health professionals and patients, so it is reasonable to consider It is necessary to emphasize that the best therapeutic option will not always depend on the monetary value, if not rather how specific it is as treatment. A descriptive observational study of drug use was performed in patients over 18 years of age who were diagnosed and treated for acute bacterial pharyngoamygdalitis in the period from July to December 2016. A sample of approximately 340 patients was obtained, with 72% between the ages of 18 and 45 years. It is evident that 75% of patients received antibiotic treatment, of which the most commonly used group corresponds to macrolides. Thus, Azithromycin is prescribed in 36% of cases followed by Clarithromycin with 8% for a total of 44% of the prescriptions for this group compared to 22% of Penicillins and 9% of other antibiotics among which Cefuroxima is present in 6%, it is important to mention that in approximately 6% of patients, allergy was documented Penicillins, and 25% of patients did not receive antibiotic prescription this under medical criteria. It is concluded that Bacterial Pharyngoamygdalitis is one of the most frequent pathologies in primary care worldwide, it is essential to consolidate an appropriate management since it is precisely in this table that presents a high percentage of an inappropriate antibiotic prescription. The use of Centor Criteria and the rapid detection of Streptococcus antigen is considered important to achieve a correct diagnosis, as well as the use of Penicillins as the first choice drug for its treatment. It is precisely for these reasons that in this analysis in which a higher percentage of prescription of macrolides is evidenced, although, it is not the drug of first choice according to reports of scientific evidence and that it registers a total price of treatment well above the treatment first choice, it is essential to emphasize the training of professionals in the appropriate use of antibiotics, as the case may be, to obtain a quality prescription with the advantage of a single dose for the patient, at a lower price, with a greater optimization of resources, that promote a greater prestige for the Institution in the long term.en
