OBJECTIVE: To measure the effect of Kinesiotaping on the degree of knee extension in the phases of medial support and terminal support of gait in children with high patella presenting spastic CP with level GMFCS I - II and III of Baca Ortiz Hospital. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Seven boys, male and female, aged between 2 and 12 years old, with a diagnosis of Dysarthral Cerebral Palsy and Quadripartic Cerebral Palsy, were recruited with GMFCS I, II and III of the physical therapy area of the Baca Ortiz Hospital, placing them in an experimental group and carrying out the initial and final evaluations of the same. An initial and final evaluation was made using the inclinometer as instrument, GMFCS scale, Edinburgh visual gait scale and as treatment the application of Kinesiotaping. RESULTS: Significant statistical results were obtained when evaluating knee extension in the left, pre and post evaluation stages, while in the right knee there were no significant changes. In the phase support right and left pre and post evaluation, there were also significant outcomes. In the comparison between the phases of medium support and terminal support pre- and postevaluation, there were significant statistical results. In the pre-support of the right knee test, the outcome was strongly effective, while in the post did not appearsubstantial changes. In the Edinburgh test, in the middle support phase there were not significant changes, except for one patient. In the terminal support phase, it was evidenced that in the right leg 2 subjects passed, from a severe knee flexion, to a moderate one. In the left knee, a patient went from a severe flexion, to a moderate one, and experiment a normal right knee flexion, to a moderate hyperextension. On the other hand, there were no changes in the remaining patients with this treatment. CONCLUSIONS: The effect of Kinesiotaping on the degree of knee extension in children with spastic CP who have high patella, shows favorable general results in the degree of knee extension in the phases of middle support and terminal support of gait, although it did not show a significant effectiveness in the study result.en
