Resumen : Objetivos: Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general evaluar la salud bucal de niños sordomudos de 4 a 12 años de edad en el Instituto Nacional de Audición y Lenguaje (INAL), a partir de esto se plantearon objetivos específicos como fueron, cuantificar el Índice CPOD en dentición permanente; Índice ceod en dentición decidua- temporal; Observar el grado de inflamación periodontal (punteado de cascara de naranja a nivel gingival) y cuantificar en grado de inflamación periodontal según el género Método: El estudio estuvo conformado por 50 niños entre 4 y 12 años con discapacidad auditiva, los índices de valoración fueron CPOD, ceod e inflamación gingival los mismos que se encuentran en la historia 0.33 del Ministerio de Salud Pública del Ecuador; Datos fueron pasados a un formulario previamente elaborado para ser tabularlos y obtener los resultados a través de un paquete estadístico...
Descripción : Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the oral health of deaf-mute children from 4 to 12 years of age at the National Institute of Hearing and Language (INAL) Permanent dentition; Ceod index in decidua-temporal dentition; Observe the degree of periodontal inflammation (dotted with orange peel at the gingival level) and quantify the degree of periodontal inflammation according to gender. Method: The study consisted of 50 children between 4 and 12 years of age with hearing impairment, the indexes of assessment were DMFT, ceod and gingival inflammation the same ones found in the history 0.33 of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador; The data were passed to a previously prepared form to get tabulated and obtained the results through a statistical package. Results: Taking into account the age of the highest DMFT indexes, ceod found son between seven and once years; A level of gingival inflammation, the finding in the period of dental replacement (age 9 to 11) and in patients with multiple caries problems (at an early age), but the problems are only observed in children Men In the grade of education Basic the major problems at dental level is presented from second to sixth of basic, this maintains certain relation with the excessive intake of carbohydrates and sugars. Conclusions: It was observed that the congenital hearing loss presented by these children is not related to the presence of gingivitis and dental caries, but to the lack of hygiene, information on oral health prevention by the parents. In conclusion, very few cases are of alarming concern, but there is a need for education and prevention activities to improve oral health in these children.
